This very classic summer pullover was published in
Rowan Magazine
17 in the spring of 1995.  Combining four shades of Sally Fox's undyed "California Cotton" yarn on a navy blue base creates a simple but delightful design suitable for both men and women..  The oversized pullover can be made in either of two sizes medium with a finished bust/chest measurement of 48 inches or large with a finished bust/chest measurement of 50 inches.  Given the nature of the design you could size it up or down if you like.   The pattern includes simple shaping, inset drop shoulder sleeves, a crew neck, and plain rib bands.   It is suitable for intermediate knitters who are comfortable with motif intarsia, where the background shade goes across the row but the leave patterns are knit with separate balls of yarn.  The pattern calls for a tension of 22 stitches and 28 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) on US 6 (4 mm) needles.

Rowan Handknit DK cotton is currently produced, however the California Cotton has been out of production for 15 years.
Kit Contents:  In total the kit contains a copy of the pattern and the sufficient yarn to knit the sweater:  Rowan Handknit DK Cotton in Turkish Plum (277) and Long Discontinued Rowan California Cotton in Oatmeal, Honey, Oyster, and Sage.  Dye lots of individual shades math.
